The San Diego Conscious Music Fest is excited to announce our beautiful 2015 venue in the heart of Hillcrest at the First Unitarian Universalist Church. With its beautiful outdoor patio and elegant indoor performance space, First UU provides not only a wonderful artistic setting, but also represents the love, peace, social justice and unity that are the foundations of this historic San Diego spiritual community.
First UU holds an important place in San Diego’s history. Years before the Plaza bore his name, Alonzo Erasmus Horton was one of San Diego’s early Unitarians. In addition to driving the waterfront growth of the newly incorporated city of San Diego, this visionary businessman sought out others who wanted to establish a center for religious education and Unitarian thought. Along with several other prominent San Diegans, Alonzo Horton helped to organize The Unitarian Society of San Diego on June 22, 1873.
So began the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego whose mission is to create community, to nurture spiritual growth and to act upon these values to help heal the world. First UU has now served San Diego’s community as a beacon of liberal thought for 130 years.
First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego is located in the neighborhood of Hillcrest at 4190 Front Street, San Diego, CA 92103.
